A 111 años de hundirse en el atlántico, partido en 2, con la proa y popa en diferentes sitios, y haberse llevado 1.503 almas en el año 1912, el #Titanic quiere seguir cobrando vidas.
8 cosas curiosas sobre el mini submarino #Titan desaparecido con 5 tripulantes.
1- Los restos del Titanic se encuentran a 3.800 m de profundidad en el océano atlántico en una zona llamada Cañón del Titanic, a unos 640 km al sureste de Terranova, Canadá. La proa y la popa están separadas por una distancia de 800 m.
2- A esa profundidad de 3.800 m, la presión es de 38.396,34 Kpa (kilopascales). Eso es ~200 veces la presión de aire que llevan los neumáticos de un auto sedan convencional R14 (28 PSI - 193 Kpa).
Pocos submarinos en el mundo llegan a esa profundidad sin sufrir daños.
Significa que es extremadamente difícil rescatar al #Titan a esa profundidad. En el año 2000 el Submarino Ruso Kursk tuvo una explosión y se hundió a apenas 108m en el mar de Barents, los 118 tripulantes murieron, incluyendo 23 que habían sobrevivido a la explosión inicial
3- ¿Por qué si la presión es tan grande a esa profundidad de 3.800m, el Titanic no se aplastó completamente?
Porque a medida que el buque se hundía se llenaba de agua y las presiones en sus compartimientos internos se igualaron con la presión externa.
4- El #Titan tiene varios mecanismos para reflotar hacia la superficie:
a) 4 propelas eléctricas controladas con un control de video juegos Logitech.
b) tanques de flotación que se llenan con aire.
c) Lastre (peso) que pueden soltar para provocar flotación positiva.
5- Si el #Titan por algún milagro lograra salir a la superficie por sus propios medios, igual sus 5 tripulantes seguirían atrapados porque la escotilla solo puede
abrirse desde el exterior, ya que se cierra con 17 pernos manuales (tornillos). No muy buen diseño naval..
6-A pesar de que una exploración en el #Titan cuesta $250 mil por pasajero, es extremadamente incómodo en su interior. No tiene asientos y viajan como sardinas en lata. La movilidad es tan reducida que la recomendación es dormir el mayor tiempo posible en caso de accidente
7- Entre las 5 personas abordo del #Titan se encuentra el propio CEO de la compañía que construyó el Submarino OceanGate Stockton Rush. Un ex piloto e ingeniero aeronáutico que trabajó para la NASA y contribuyó al diseño.
